We are constantly working with the campus computer store every semester, to develop a laptop configuration to ease the purchasing process. These two configuration options should serve you for years to come, especially with what you will be required to do with your computer while attending the Fay Jones school.
Note: PURCHASING AN APPLE COMPUTER IS HIGHLY, HIGHLY DISCOURAGED FOR ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING FAY JONES SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN! We do not recommend these devices for several reasons. ALL of our software required to be learned and used by students throughout their tenure, is not available and or does not run optimally on the Apple platform. Our printers, plotters, scanners, also are designed to run optimally for ALL students using a Windows based machine and ideally what the IT department recommends they purchase.

Software: Operating Systems
FJSOAD IT Staff recommends Windows 10 Professional 64-bit as the default operating system on your computer.
If your computer has 32-bit editions of Windows, you are advised to upgrade. Software used in the Fay Jones School will perform most optimally in a 64-bit Windows environment and most software is only available in Windows versions.
